The dudes are back with an unbelievable update to the cat crap box situation. This week we introduce a new contest having to do with the shocking new Family Feud. The master of the acquisition of chicks has been discovered at a coffee shop. Take me to ripoff church. We won the war, but lost the toilet battle.
First off, love the new podcast. It makes doing the dishes, which takes about the length of a podcast, much more bearable.
But, I am dissapointed in your review of Hozer’s “Take Me to Church”. Considering Thomas’ background, and having heard you pick apart Robert Frost’s “Road Not Taken”, I expected the message in this song not to sail over your head like a poorly aimed blue light spell cast by a drunk wizard who had the spins.
“Every Sunday’s getting more bleak
A fresh poison each week”
” We were born sick, you heard them say it”
“I was born sick… Command me to be well”
“I’ll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I’ll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life”
“There is no sweeter innocence than our gentle sin”
Cmon guys, it’s a song about the church condemning the sin of being homosexual, and inner termoil faced by someone who is homosexual and living in or participing in a religious culture. In particular, Hozier says the song is about a lesbian couple. The music video portrays a gay man being hauled out by some homophobic thugs and beat to shit, much like what we see happening in Russia.
But yeah, anyway, Deafheaven sucks balls.
